Values-Based Learning

Character Building is one of the most important elements in a child's growth and development

As part of our Values-Based Learning approach, every two years we take our students out into the community to meet elderly cardboard collectors — seniors who quietly walk the streets of Singapore, gathering discarded cardboard and recyclables to earn a modest living, often without the support of any social group or organisation.

Our students came prepared — with a bag of food and daily necessities, simple items, but packed with love and sincerity. And while many of them felt a little awkward at first, they still tried their best to smile, to say a kind word, and to let these seniors know that someone cared.

It was a moment that words could not fully capture. For many of our children, it was their first real encounter with the silent struggles that exist beyond their everyday lives. They returned with a deeper appreciation for what they have — and a heart more attuned to the world around them.

Because at Seedlings World, we believe that compassion and empathy are not just values to be taught — they are values to be lived.
